Biography

Callum Ware is a performer, accompanist, composer, and student at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music in Denver, Colorado. He is experienced in a wide variety of musical genres including classical, ragtime, film music, and avante-garde.

    An accomplished pianist, Callum has won several awards for his piano performances, including first place in the 2013 Music Teachers National Association State Competition. He has received consistent superior ratings from the Federation of Music Clubs from 2010-2013. Judges have noted his great sensitivity and engaging interpretation in his performances. At age 18, he gave a full length solo recital, performing works from composers such as Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Stravinsky. He is the pianist for the Lamont School of Music Wind Ensemble, and he regularly accompanies students.

    Callum has studied with such notable instructors as Steven Mayer, Heidi Leathwood, and Kelly Zuercher. He believes it is very important to have teachers that inspire, encourage, and push their students to grow as much as possible, and he aspires to be a studio instructor of piano after he graduates.

As a budding composer, Callum is especially influenced by film composers such as Danny Elfman, John Williams, and Yann Tiersen. Classical composers such as Rachmaninoff and Chopin can also be heard in his music. He hopes to grow much more as a composer in his time at the Lamont School of Music.

    In his spare time Callum enjoys drawing portraits, biking, hiking, and playing accordion.
